In King of New York (1990), Frank White, a former drug kingpin, is released from prison and returns to New York City with a plan to regain control of the drug empire he once ruled. Despite others taking over his business in his absence, White is determined to reclaim his throne. As he eliminates his rivals, White also hatches a philanthropic scheme to use his newfound wealth to improve a local hospital in his old neighborhood.

However, White's power struggles don't only involve rival drug dealers. A group of corrupt police officers decide to take him down, seeing him as a threat to their own illicit activities. As tension rises, White finds himself caught in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with both criminals and the authorities determined to bring him down.
